Restricted Roleplaying is the opposite of Free Form Roleplaying where players must conform to a strict set of governing rules. Some examples of popular RRP games are:

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D)

Dungeons and Dragons was the first fully-marketed role playing game, and it still makes millions even to this day. This form of RP centers on character statistics, like strength and constitution. All these numbers are taken into consideration during combat, or when you need to run really fast, or swim really hard, etc. AD&D is a solid, time-honored system that has built the foundation for many of the other RP games that are played today.

GURPS – Generic Universal Role Playing System

This is the second most widely used form of RP. While relying on numbers like AD&D, GURPS also lets you choose from a wide variety of characters in a wide variety of settings. Want a warrior or a barbarian? Perhaps a gunslinger, or a space marine? It’s all possible with GURPS.

V:tM – Vampire: The Masquerade

Basically V:tm is a restricted RP like AD&D. The rules are more strict and this type of role play is produced by White Wolf. Check out the web site for more information.

Wolfpack – Raptorpack

Wolfpacks and Raptorpacks are tightly-knit groups of Role Players that role-play as real life animals. They usually strive to stay consistent with real wolves and such – most do not give their creatures voices, or superior minds, and so on.
